A letter from your Member of Parliament
It has been a privilege to serve as your Member of Parliament over the last year and eight months. As my office and I try to be as open and accessible as possible we have decided to start a weekly newsletter that will keep you most informed and up-to-date on what is happening in Hamilton and Ottawa.
Our first email went out last week and announced our Canada 150 Constituent Awards. Nomination forms can be found online at https://goo.gl/forms/XDaphRdM2AQKTGWu1.
To sign up for our email list, please fill out the online form at https://bbratina.liberal.ca/email-updates/.
From the time I served on City Council Hamilton has made great strides in dealing with the problem of lead in household drinking water. Our Government has committed over $500 million to Clean Water and Waste Water projects in Ontario though our Phase 1 Infrastructure funding. This money helps ensure that all residents in Ontario have access to clean and fresh drinking water. In February, Parliament gave unanimous approval to my Private Members Motion to pursue the lead problem at a national level, with Committee hearings now underway. Health Canada is also looking at reducing the Maximum Acceptable Concentration of lead in Canadian drinking water by half or more, based on recent studies which show serious impacts of lead on the brain development of young children.

As we approach Canada Day I am looking forward to being in our community celebrating with residents throughout the day. If you are hosting a Canada Day event and would like me to drop by, please reply to this email with information about the event.
It is an honour to be your Member of Parliament and being connected and engaged with our community is my top priority.
