I hope you’ve had a great week and a great summer! It’s been so great to have been able to connect with so many people in Hamilton East – Stoney Creek over the past couple of months.

I look forward to connecting with many more of you this weekend at the Winona Peach Festival. Peach Fest will be taking place from 5 p.m. today until 6 p.m. Sunday.

Please note that this will be my final weekly email newsletter until after October 21st. On behalf of myself and my constituency office in Hamilton East – Stoney Creek, thank you for taking the time to read through my weekly newsletters and for getting back to me to inform me of your thoughts, ideas, and concerns.

You can stay in touch with me by following me on my social media accounts!

Remembering Dieppe

I was honoured to attend a beautiful 77th Anniversary Dieppe Memorial Service on Monday morning at the Dieppe Memorial Park in Hamilton. Thank you so much to the RHLI Veteran’s Association for organizing this memorial.

May we never forget the sacrifices of the men and women who have served this country.

It was an honour for me to lay a wreath at the Dieppe Veterans Memorial in Hamilton on behalf of the Government of Canada to honour the soldiers who fought at Dieppe Raid in 1942.

Thank you to veteran Ken Curry for attending Monday’s 77th Anniversary Dieppe Memorial Service at Dieppe Veterans Memorial Park. Thank you for your service to our country!

Investing in the Port of Hamilton

This Wednesday I had the chance to join Minister Filomena Tassi at the Port of Hamilton to announce a $5.5 million investment to increase capacity at the port. This investment will help move Canadian goods to international markets more efficiently.

This investment will also create 110 jobs in our city during the construction process.

Supporting Our Community Through the Canada Summer Jobs Program

The Canada Summer Jobs program provides funding to help employers create summer job opportunities for youth so they can develop skills, gain meaningful workplace experience and fill any labour gaps the employer may have.

This summer I have had the chance to see firsthand how the Canada Summer Jobs Program is creating jobs in Hamilton East – Stoney Creek! Just last week I presented Canada Summer Jobs Students from Today’s Family with certificates at their work location at Stoney Creek’s R.L. Hyslop School. Thank you to Today’s Family for all of the great work you do in our community.

A Look Back on My Broadcasting Days

Earlier this month CFL stars Terry Greer and Mervyn Fernandez were inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. It was an honour for me to know them during my broadcasting days.

“I remember one game vs. Ottawa, (then Argo play-by-play announcer) Bob Bratina called down to the bench and said I was only one catch short of the record,” said Greer, who then caught a quick hitch pass from quarterback Condredge Holloway for the reception record.

I hope you have a great weekend! I look forward to being in contact this weekend at the Winona Peach Festival!
